About VAERS
VAERS is the national early-warning system for vaccine safety, co-managed by CDC and FDA. It accepts reports from anyone. A report does not mean a vaccine caused the event; VAERS data are used to look for patterns that need further study.
What VAERS does with a report
Every report is reviewed. Reports are used to look for patterns that may need further study. A report does not establish that a vaccine caused the event.
Who can report
Anyone: patients, parents and caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Healthcare professionals are required to report certain events.
